Why does the claims process take so long?

Why does the claims process take so long?

Claims follow a predictable path. However, at any point that path can have roadblocks
or detours etc. It can be the type of claim, it can be the process the claims examiner
follows, it can be DOL managers, or the third-party entities DOL uses to develop claims.
Claims can be delayed, deferred and sometimes denied

A letter like a remand, recommended decision of denial that we object to or a final
decision that we request a reconsideration or reopening adds even further delay.

These are symptoms of the bureaucracy.
